Why should you book me as your wedding photographer?

Sometimes it’s hard to blow our own trumpet and talk about how great we are, but I understand that sometimes it’s difficult to know who to choose when it comes to deciding on your wedding photographer, so maybe telling you a little more about myself could help!

So much about choosing your wedding photographer comes down to the style of photography you like, and the kind of theme you have in mind for your day (I’ll talk more about my wedding photography style a little later on).

However, there are also other factors to consider when choosing your wedding photographer, not least that you should ideally like and trust the person who is going to be spending a lot of time with you on the most important day of your life! This is why a particular quote always sticks in my head- “More like a friend than a photographer!” This is something I’ve been lucky enough to hear many times from couples I’ve worked with. Couples often say that me photographing their wedding was more like having a friend or family member there rather than just someone there taking photos. This means the world to me, because as well as creating fantastic wedding photos, I also care deeply about being the kind of person that couples want to have around on their wedding day. I like to make all the guests feel at ease: I believe you capture the best photos of people when they’re relaxed and truly enjoying themselves.

Another thing that makes me so happy is that the majority of my bookings come from referrals. Knowing that my past couples have recommended me to their friends and family is such a lovely seal of approval, and it’s wonderful knowing that they were happy with my work. When it comes to choosing your wedding photographer, it’s always a good idea to read some testimonials and reviews. It’s also a great idea to ask friends who got married before you who they would recommend before they decide who to book. The photo below shows me alongside four couples, all of whom know each other, and all of who’s weddings I have shot! It’s a great compliment when someone you meet at another wedding asks you to photograph their wedding too.

My wedding photography style

As I mentioned previously, a big part of why couples choose to book their wedding photographer is the style of photography they want. It’s worth checking out a few different wedding photography styles to help you decide which is most suitable for you as a couple.

I specialise in natural, relaxed wedding photography. I would describe my style as a mixture of ‘documentary style’ wedding photography and creative wedding photography. ‘Documentary style wedding photography’ means that I capture the real events and emotions of your wedding day as they play out. As a documentary style wedding photographer, I’m adept at making people feel at ease, and very often people pretty much forget that we’re even there!

I’m also an award-winning creative wedding photographer, which means I’m adept at capturing unique, stand-out shots of couples and groups. I recently won Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year The Welsh Wedding Awards 2022 thanks to some of the unique posed shots I’ve created for brides and grooms. I love to incorporate props such as smoke bombs and flares into my wedding photography to create really vibrant images.

I’m also a bit of an expert when it comes to drone wedding photography! My drone has brought a whole new dimension to my wedding photography and I’ve used it to capture some outstanding aerial images for some of my couples, including wedding photography at venues across Cheshire, Chester and North Wales.
